Old archives, ancient HR documents, contracts from a previous job — eventually you'll find a PDF you own but no longer want to type a password into. Removing the password takes seconds.

How it works

  1. Open Unlock PDF.
  2. Upload your protected PDF and enter the password.
  3. Download the unlocked file.

Important: only your own files

Use this tool only on PDFs you own and have the right credentials for. Removing a password from a file you don't own may be a violation of the document owner's rights and, in some places, of the law.

User password vs owner password

PDFs can have two passwords:

  • User password — required to open the file.
  • Owner password — controls editing and printing permissions.

If a file requires a password to open, you'll need to provide it. Owner restrictions are easier to remove with most modern tools.
